Cristan Steimel
LBSW, LPC, CMC
Cristan is a Licensed Baccalaureate Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, and Certified Care Manager.
She graduated with honors from Lamar University with a Master of Education Degree in Counseling and Human Development. She has been working in the field of care management for over 10 years, specializing in individuals with disabilities which is a field she is extremely passionate about.
Professional Experience
Cristan began as an intern at Spindletop Center during her senior year of college, and was hired as a Waiver Program Coordinator upon graduation. Spindletop Center provides services for those with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in the Beaumont, Texas area. During her time in graduate school for counseling she provided therapy for youth at risk and to those in the correctional system. During the pandemic she began to explore the option of providing therapy virtually and offered services through platforms like SonderMind, BetterHelp, and Headway.
As a care manager at a private company for over 10 years, she has helped many of her clients learn how to navigate the system and obtain the supports they need. During that time she’s also identified the service gaps that people with disabilities still experience in our system, including the lack of mental health counselors that focus on this population.
From the Therapist
I grew up with a younger cousin who had several physical disabilities, introducing me to the difficulties people often face at a young age.
During my senior year of high school, my grandmother developed Alzheimer’s and we watched her dementia slowly progress, I assisted in taking care of her when not in school. During college I was introduced to the Best Buddies program which pairs college students to “buddies” in the community with disabilities. Not long after I joined, I was appointed as the President and responsible for recruiting new participants. This afforded me the opportunity to attend the Best Buddies Leadership Conference in Indiana during my senior year.
The Best Buddies Leadership Conference unites Best Buddies leaders, volunteers, and community advocates from around the globe to imagine, create, lead, and empower the future of disability rights and inclusion. This further ignited my passion for this area!
Limitless Life Counseling, PLLC was formed in 2024 with a focus on Special Needs Counseling. I believe that both my lived and professional experience have an impact on my approach with each individual and their unique situation. I strive to provide the right environment for my clients to feel accepted, valued, and empowered!

From the Therapist
I have always been drawn to the spaces where people are most often misunderstood. Long before I held professional licenses or degrees, I was learning—quietly, firsthand—what it meant to navigate a world that does not easily accommodate difference. Growing up with a younger cousin who had multiple physical disabilities opened my eyes early to the barriers people face every day, not just physically, but socially and emotionally. Those lessons became more personal during my senior year of high school, when my grandmother developed Alzheimer’s. As her dementia progressed, I helped care for her when I was not in school, witnessing both the fragility of memory and the resilience required of those who love someone through decline.
By the time I entered college, service was no longer a curiosity—it was a calling. At Lamar University, where I later graduated with honors with a Master of Education in Counseling and Human Development, I found language for instincts I had carried for years. During my senior year, I interned at Spindletop Center in Beaumont, Texas, an organization serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. After graduation, I was hired as a Waiver Program Coordinator, stepping directly into work that felt less like a job and more like a responsibility I was ready to claim.
Graduate school broadened my understanding of human complexity. While completing my counseling degree, I provided therapy to youth at risk and individuals within the correctional system—populations often defined by their worst moments rather than their potential for growth. Later, during the pandemic, I adapted my practice to virtual platforms ensuring continuity of care during a time marked by isolation and uncertainty.
For more than fifteen years, I have worked in care management, including over a decade in private practice, helping children and adults with developmental disabilities, physical challenges, and chronic medical conditions navigate systems that are often difficult to understand and even harder to access. Along the way, I became acutely aware of the gaps—especially the shortage of mental health providers who truly understand and specialize in working with individuals with disabilities.
In 2024, I founded Limitless Life Counseling, PLLC, with a focus on special needs counseling. This mission is now deeply personal as a parent of one child with ADHD and another with autism. My lived experience and professional training shape my approach with every client I serve. I strive to create an environment where individuals feel accepted, valued, and empowered. Together, we work to identify the best path forward—one that honors each person’s unique strengths, challenges, and limitless potential.
